Kahuna La’au Lapa’au
Kahuna La’au Lapa’au (The Hawaiian Healer) is a life size bronze sculpture depicting the healer at his favorite place near a stream, sitting on a bed of moss, meditating on the medicinal herbs he gathered in the valley. The sculpture was created after a weekend the artist spent in the remote jungle of Kipahulu, Maui with the Hawaiian Healer, Kapi’ioho’okalani Lyons Naone.
The Healer was one of five sculptures created by Dale Zarrella for Tokyo Tycoon Makoto Kaneko, owner of the King Kamehameha Golf Club. The healer was installed outside the men’s spa in the Frank Lloyd Wright designed clubhouse of the King Kamehameha Golf Club in May 2006.
